La Plata is located thirty miles southeast of Washington, D.C. and 45 miles southwest of Annapolis. The beautification commission helps to preserve the historical heritage of the town. La Plata is the county seat of Charles County which is home to many of the nation’s bald eagles. The nations’ oldest active parish, St. Ignatius Catholic Church, also calls Charles County home.
